Our Story

I am Scott Frey, owner of Freys Building and Remodeling. I grew up in Horseheads, New York and moved to the Triangle 21 years ago as a child. I earned a college degree in civil engineering at Penn State. After graduating, I lived in Pittsburgh and got my start in the industry as a salesman for 84 Lumber. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but to my surprise, I ended up enjoying the industry. I decided to move back to Raleigh, as it was having a booming economy and the growth was taking off. I took a position as an estimator for a large production builder. My previous experience as a salesman helped boost my career in estimating an entire house. As a result, I was promoted to project manager running 30 houses at a time with only two assistants.

It was when the economy started to turn that I was asked to run a remodeling company for a local builder to help subsidize the new home commodity. This was a great learning experience, and I really enjoyed this side of construction. My favorite part is that there is always a surprise around every turn, as we can’t see inside the walls. Therefore, it is always testing our knowledge of how the house was built while deciding what changes to make.

After a couple of years of managing this remodeling company, my brother, father and I decided to take a leap of faith. We started Freys Building and Remodeling in my home office in Holly Springs 10 years ago and we have never looked back. This business brought my experience in the industry and our ambition as a family and turned it into something that helps others enjoy their own homes. We have grown and now have four project managers, a production manager, an estimator, an office manager, a marketing manager Sydney (my stepdaughter), a CFO (my father) and a vice president of customer relations (my brother). Family is very important to us, and it’s the key to our success as a business. Every person on the Frey team is part of the Frey family. One thing that makes Freys different is we take care of our people and take care of our clients.

As a family owned and operated company, our core values are what drives us.  We extend those values to our sub-contractors, vendors, designers, partners and ultimately our customers. Our customers are truly an extension of who we are and what we want to be known for: Creating the BEST Customer Experience and standing behind our work, relationships, craftmanship and quality. We find it so rewarding to take someone’s outdated space and turn it into a new, inviting space that they can enjoy for years to come. Seeing the final product and the look on the homeowners face is something that we look forward to with each project. Our goal is to treat every client with respect and honesty and give them an end product that we both can be proud of.
